SHIR VADYA / ALU VADI OR COLOCASSIA ROLLS IN COCONUT MILK GRAVY / शीर वड्या

Shirvadya / Aluvadi in coconut milk is a typical authentic CKP recipe. In it shir means coconut milk and vadya is the colocasia leaves rolls. It is mildly flavoured and is at its subtle best. Do try this authentic recipe, a different version using aluvadi is sure to tickle your taste buds.




SHIR VADYA / ALUVADI IN COCONUT MILK GRAVY / शीर वड्या 

INGREDIENTS

1 no
Lavang / cloves
2 - 3 nos
Velchi / cardamom
2 nos
Ghee / clarified butter
½ tbsp.
Red chilli pdr     
½ tsp
Green chillies cut into pieces
1 no
Salt
T.T.
Coconut milk thin OR coconut milk powder
½ cup OR 2 tbsp
Coconut milk thick
 1 tbsp
Sugar (op)
¼ tsp
Coriander leaves chopped
2 tbsp

METHOD:


1.       Roughly cut the alu vadi roll into chunky cubes.


2.       Heat ghee, add the velchi and lavang.


3.       When it sizzles and pops add in the alu vadi cubes and green chillies.


4.       Saute them in ghee for a min.



5.       Sprinkle in some salt and chilli pdr and saute.


6.       Just before serving pour in the thin coconut milk and bring it to a boil.


7.       Add sugar if you like.


8.       Now pour in the thick coconut milk over and serve immediately.

9.       Sprinkle chop coriander leaves on top.

10.   It needs to be served immediately or the coconut milk gets absorbed in and thickens the gravy.
